ABOUT US
With a mission to educate and prepare individuals with disabilities for life, The Lighthouse Voc-Ed Center (The Light House) is a nonprofit that serves the needs of individuals with disabilities throughout Eastern Connecticut and Southern Rhode Island. Divided into three “campuses”, The Light House has a broad range of programming including two state-approved private schools, residential and transitional services, vocational training, and state contracted adult services.

OUR APPROACH
The Light House has continued to support intellectually and developmentally disabled individuals and their families in Connecticut for over 30 years. Offering a continuum of services from education to independent living, the Light House is dedicated to fostering social, emotional, and cognitive development for lifelong independence.
CURRENT INITATIVES
HOUSING OPPORTUNITES
For over 15 years, The Light House Life Campus has helped individuals with Autism transition into semi-supportive and independent living arrangements. With various sites located in southeastern Connecticut, The Light House has managed to develop a community of ‘like minded’ individuals that continue to support one another in lasting friendships.
LH Works
The Light House is growing again to meet the needs of post high school graduates and transition age (17-22) students with diverse abilities. LH Works provides social and vocational experiences for job seekers who currently do not reach the benchmarks for competitive employment. LH Works empowers individuals to create their own pathways to employment and independent living.
