February 2012 Artists

Artist’s Opening February 24, 5-8pm.

Gail and Kathryn are real estate brokers.  The met doing their business and discovered a mutual interest in photography. Gail had been taking photos for many years and Kathryn was new to the idea. As they traveled for their real estate work, Gail took pictures of things that interested her; statues in cemeteries and old abandoned buildings. Kathryn, at Gail’s urging, began to take pictures of nature focusing on her love of the color red. They also photographed weddings together.

They wanted to display their work for people to see and comment. As this show was being hung, I asked which photos belonged to which artist and they stated that they work collaboratively and did not want to draw distinctions or divide the show.

So, here they are. Two developing photographers with ‘An Eye for Photography’ displaying their work. Gail stated she wants to focus on cemetery sculpture and Kathryn wants to photograph horses in addition to continuing her focus on the color red.

Perhaps we will see another show in the future where these goals are realized. Enjoy their work and give your critique.  Both are open to hear your feedback.  Chris Rose, Gallery Director.
